Mansfield Oil Holds 20th Annual Golf Classic Benefiting The Muscular Dystrophy Association

The 20th Annual Mansfield Oil Golf Classic presented by UPS was held on Monday, May 15th at the Country Club of the South in Alpharetta, GA. The tournament hosted 166 golfers and netted $100,000 - all of which will directly benefit the Greater Georgia chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), with a portion of the proceeds being directed to services and programs for local citizens living with ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease.

During the Awards Reception at the event, Michael Mansfield, CEO of Mansfield Oil, received a letter of commendation from MDA’s National Chairman, Jerry Lewis, thanking him for 20 years of service to MDA.

Mansfield Oil Company, headquartered in Gainesville, Georgia, has raised over $1.4 million for MDA during their 20-year partnership with the Association.

Michael Mansfield encourages his employees to get involved in the fundraising efforts of the company. Many of the employees volunteered at the golf tournament and participated in pancake breakfasts and other events to raise money for MDA throughout the year.

MDA serves over 2,200 families in the metro- Atlanta and North Georgia areas by providing assistance in the purchase and maintenance of wheelchairs, leg braces and speech communication devices; MDA Clinic visits at Emory University and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, a week-long summer camp for children and young adults living with muscle disorders and much more.

MDA is a voluntary health agency working to find treatments and cures for 43 neuromuscular diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive medical and community services and far-reaching professional and public health education.

MDA is the first non-profit organization honored with the American Medical Association Lifetime Achievement Award for “significant and lasting contributions to the health and welfare of humanity.”
